While some of these may not have the lowest prices maybe they have quantity purchases available that in the long run save you time and gas: 12 Alternate Places to Shop for Food (That You Likely Forgot About)!
A way to save on groceries is to buy things in season and then freeze them. I do this whenever possible especially with berries.

That is a decent list. I already hit most of those places for selected items; nobody is best for all.Accrete wrote: Mon Mar 23, 2020 6:45 pm While some of these may not have the lowest prices maybe they have quantity purchases available that in the long run save you time and gas: 12 Alternate Places to Shop for Food (That You Likely Forgot About)!

Of course right now I am not venturing out and we will pay a bit more for less stops.

Re: Saving on Groceries
These days, one has to shop from several shopping stores to get all the things needed, because of how empty some store shelves are.
I wouldn't say the cost of items can be considered "price gouging", but there are definitely no "sales" out there.

I think spot shortages on most things except TP are easing a bit here. Mama came home with hot dog buns and a two roll pack of paper towels.

Re: Saving on Groceries
What's kind of funny, is when I spoke to a pharmacist in our local grocery store few weeks back, she was shaking her head about the rush on TP buying, when she said tissue and paper towels logically should have been the items in short supply first. At that time, PT and tissue shelves were pretty much stocked to a normal degree.
Update: As of yesterday, the only TP supplies available in most stores here were in smallish packages (12 rolls or less). And, what surprised me most, is that I was able to purchase some hand sanitizer from a most unlikely local retail source.
And the problem comes from when someone finds a source, notes in on FB, then there's a rush to buy from those in that FB group (and others that they shout out to) and the shelves are soon emptied. SMH

A lot of the distillers are step up to make more of the stuff. There may not be a shortage in the near future.
If they put their name on it I may have to buy a single bottle of a famous brand of Bourbon.

Re: Saving on Groceries
It's been mentioned on tv, and in some recent articles about local breweries making batches of sanitizer. I want to see what this is all about and want to get a bottle or two. One to keep for the end of the world scenario and one to test for now.
