This isn't new. I have done this for years! Evidently some don't do this and it is really frustrating. :cry:
...Converting responsive, continuous media to paged paper of any size and orientation can be challenging. However, CSS print control has been possible for many years, and a basic style sheet can be completed within hours...
How to Create Printer-friendly Pages with CSS

Please check your email templates too. Having to print out tickets or receipts for accounting purposes can waste a lot of paper and ink. ;)

I have included footnotes in my printed versions so one could still know what urls were referenced.

Do you include a print.css file with your designs?

Will you please send this link to the Sams Mastercard people! Seriously some business websites waste 12 sheets of paper and toner to print a simple receipts.

Until they get the message a working solution that works most of the time is to highlight the text and use print selection.
