Re: Potential way for increasing social traffic
There may be other ways, but creating compelling content that people will want to view and share, has been the way of the internet for just about forever.
I'd just like to know - wha, wha, wha, what's going on.

At one time, I also used to use automated Social apps to spread the news. However, it was really a way of flinging things out there, hoping something would "stick". Mixed results were achieved and the cost out-weighed the results.

Re: Potential way for increasing social traffic
One thing just came to mind. I don't know how valuable this method may be these days, but it did work for a while and yes, it did come with some cost for getting link traffic and PageRank. Yep, that notorious link juice for ranking purposes that everyone and their brother were after.
So, at one time I used press releases to gather interest and links for myself and clients. The links at the time were "follow" links, but later became "nofollow". So, this effort just turned more into efforts to get qualified traffic, than increasing one's domain PageRank. I used expensive sources (money will get you more traffic), but if you looked for modest press release hubs, some may be low cost and some may be free. It may be worth a look.
That all being said, I still believe PageRank is alive and well, but the last I heard is that it's an internal link criteria formula that Google, and only Google uses to calculate on indexed domains, based on it's several hundred internal ranking factors. Please, anyone still in the business can chime in and offer thoughts.
