Internet Radio

Post by Accrete »

Do you listen to the radio via the internet?

My surround sound isn't hooked up. I don't think you can get FM via cablevision here anymore.

I listen to a local radio station via the internet sometimes but of course it has commercials...

Have you tried Radio Paradise or any other internet radio stations?
...Radio Paradise is an eclectic, commercial free blend of modern and classic rock, world music, electronica, even a bit of classical and jazz that flows together in a way that makes sense harmonically, rhythmically, and lyrically...

I subscribe to Spotify, which isn't really internet radio. $10 per month and you can play/listen to all the songs, playlists, albums you want. In fact, you can listen via the internet when not at home or internet hub, and when at home via wireless (to Bluetooth speakers). Download all sorts of songs to your mobile device and take them with you wherever you go.

I can listen to Stingray thru cable channels, but the sound isn't that great.

I also have Sirius XM in the car. I just called them, got a higher level subscription along with mobile listening too. Saved about $100 this year. For this streaming service to your mobile device, you need wireless and/or direct internet connection.
I'd just like to know - wha, wha, wha, what's going on. ;)

I've tried it a few times and wasn't real pleased. In the last few years I find I just don't do radio.

I listened to the station I mentioned above for the rest of yesterday. It was ok. Variety of types of music. Nice enough for background music while working.

For me, it depends on what I'm doing. If it's mindless, repetitive stuff, music is necessary. If I have to focus on something important - silence!

Add: I've found lots of options on the internet that will play an hour, maybe even an couple hours or three of music (usually background music), especially on YouTube.

I'll tell you though, I'm loving this SiriusXM mobile right now.
