So, why would posting in a forum be good or bad? Or, more to the point, what kind of posting efforts are you referring to, and to what end are you striving towards?
I'd just like to know - wha, wha, wha, what's going on. ;)

I think the OP is inquiring about "forum posting", and how it relates to ranking criteria and traffic. So, please explain how one would "get genuine people from Forums".

What kind of update we're talking about. Maybe I missed something and since when did sharing opinions on forums suddenly become considered bad?

I'm no SEO expert, but i do believe that Google has for some time now, seen easy-to-get types of links like a signature in a forum as not that important. But there is still a chance to get some clicks from a forum post.

When G's algo update included re-evaluation of "links" and how PageRank was applied, as well as additional wide-spread "no follow" interpretation of backlinks in general, I got out of the SEO service.

Seem like a good time to get out of that business. I remember a time where Google actually believed that it was there job to figure out how to crawl a website, and webmaster didn't have to live up to any requirements from them. A lot has happened since then... ;)

Some of the online SEO people I conversed with online, even went as far as to say an entire site could be easily "de-indexed" by throwing a million links at it. I asked, " a million links?", they said sure. Google would see that act as "immensely unnatural", thereby blatant manipulation, and as such, would de-index a site.

Then the site owner would have to find a way to contact the right area at Google, then plead with them to have that action removed.

Heck, Google didn't even like us using SEO software to gather search placement data for specific keywords on site pages. So, with all the complaints about the software causing "blocks", the SW engineers had to add a "human" element to the software. If that feature wasn't enabled, G would shut you down from checking placement for a while.

With the human element enabled, the software would work without issue, but it could take hours to get final results depending on how many keywords you were using.
